What Was Your Life Like Before Your Transformation?

I played offensive line in college at a small university. My goal was always about being as big as I could. I ate whatever I wanted and drank beer every weekend.

I had surgery after my senior season and decided I didn’t need to be big anymore. I also wanted to be a police officer and wanted to get in shape for that profession.

What Were Your Major Struggles or Challenges?

Getting over a lack of support by my family. They did not understand why I was trying to lose weight and did not support my new habits. I was even told at times that people missed the fat me.

Detail Your Workout and Cardio Plan During Your Transformation

I started doing only cardio at first and eventually I did start doing Insanity. I lost a lot of weight that way but I also lost a lot of muscle and strength. Then I adopted the bodybuilding lifestyle thanks to the YouTube channels of Chris Jones and Marc Lobliner. I then started a 6 day a week bro split.

Detail Your Diet/Eating Plan During Your Transformation

I ate pretty much all protein and no carbs at first because I was uneducated. I then learned about bro dieting and eventually went on to counting macros for the last 6-8 months of my transformation.

Detail Your Supplement Plan During Your Transformation

Simply the basics, MTS Whey, pre-workout and BCAAs with the occasional fat burner.

What Was Your Major Accomplishment, or Major Milestones?

First it was being under 200lbs since my freshman year in high school and then it was hitting the 100lbs lost landmark.

Detail Your 3 Biggest Mistakes

  1. Doing a ton of cardio and not focusing more on weights.
  2. Thinking that carbs were the sole enemy of fat loss.
  3. Not knowing about macronutrients and how to manipulate them for weight loss progress

3 Biggest Things You Learned During Your Transformation?

  1. How to use cardio and macros to keep weight loss progressing.
  2. The importance of lifting heavy to maintain muscle.
  3. How to balance a bodybuilding lifestyle with everyday life.

Final Words of Advice for Others Looking to Make a Change?

Commit to the progress and understand it is going to take time. It may take months to see noticeable difference but I guarantee if you stick to it you will become obsessed with the results and want to keep improving.

Don’t be afraid to adopt the fitness lifestyle because it is against the norm. If you are unhappy with yourself make the change regardless of what others opinions may be. You are the only one who has to live in your body.
