2015 Mr. Olympia Winner & Results: Phil Heath Wins 5th Title

2015 Mr. Olympia Winner & Results: Phil Heath Wins 5th Title

Will anyone have what it takes to de-throne 4-time champion Phil Heath? That was the question headed into the 2015, Mr. Olympia.

Kai Greene. Shawn Rhoden. Dennis Wolf. Dexter Jackson. Each of these amazing physiques has been battling it out over the last 3 years for best of the also-rans. And the majority of the pre-Olympia hype and scuttlebutt presumed that we would likely see more of the same old, same old.

Phil Heath winning, Kai Greene in second, and the rest of the major players battling it out for a top 5 spot.

Were the prognostications correct? Absolutely. Except for the Kai Greene prediction. No one could have predicted that he would not be competing. But before we recap the 2015, Mr. Olympia, let's look at the field as they headed into the show.

The 2015 Mr. Olympia Competitors

A rundown of the top 10 from 2014:

Mr. Olympia Phil Heath

Phil Heath - "The Gift" is a four-time Mr. Olympia champion and the favorite headed into this year's contest. A complete package with the mass and aesthetics to continue his reign as champion as long as his conditioning is spot on.

Kai Greene (Out!) - Everyone's favorite (mass-monster) pick to steal the Mr. Olympia title. Kai Greene has placed a unanimous second in each of the last 3 contests. He will NOT be competing in this year's Olympia competition. Read the full story here.

Shawn Rhoden - A certified top contender, "Flexatron" has the wheels and the shreds to terrify the competition, but does he have the mass to win?

Dennis Wolf - The top 6 pinball, Dennis has placed 4th, 3rd, 6th and 5th in his last four contests. Heading in everyone expected more of the same.

Dexter Jackson - Since his 2008 Mr. Olympia victory, Dexter "The Blade" Jackson has been bouncing around the top 6 just like Dennis Wolf. And just like Dennis Wolf, most experts expected more of the same.

Branch Warren - After his two consecutive top-3 placings in 2009 and 2010, fan favorite Branch Warren has been struggling to land a competitive placing.

Mamdouh Elssbiay - Better known as "Big Ramy," this Egyptian mass monster has been stringing together first-place finishes outside of the Olympian stage.

Victor Martinez - Once considered a serious Mr. Olympia contender, since 2007 Victor Martinez has struggled to achieve a top 5 placing except for his 4th place at the 2011 contest.

Steve Kuclo - Placing 14th in the 2013 Mr. Olympia, this Michigan native jumped to a 9th place finish in 2014.

Juan Morel - After a strong of quality top 3 finishes in several IFBB shows, Juan "Diesel" Morel managed to squeeze into the top 10 at the 2014 Mr. Olympia.

2015 Mr. Olympia

Individual Posing Routines - Saturday, September 19th

Start time 10 pm EST. Each competitor has a 3-minute posing routine to show his stuff. While this portion of Mr. Olympia is not judged, it does present a great opportunity for the fans to compare physiques and form their own opinion on who won. What follows is a recap of each routine.

Branch Warren - Not happy with last night's call outs. A little tighter than pre-judging. Hardcore poser. Legs look freaking amazing. Sirens blasting, high energy music. Back looks a little flat, not as dry as it could have been. The crowd loves him.

Essa Obiad - Classical-style posing routine. A throwback to Shawn Ray. Plenty of mass. Trouble holding in his midsection. Quads not quite as impressive as the rest of the field. Feathered. Conditioning is there.

Maxx Charles - Olympia debut. Big. Slow routine, more classical. Methodical posing. Holding a little more water than last night. Needs to bring his legs up to match his upper body. Crazy ripped upper chest.

Roelly (Egberton) Winklaar - Top 6 last night. Great conditioning compared to last year. Same posing song as Maxx Charles. Breaking out the pop and lock dance routine. Lower back needs work. Hammies and glutes are rocking. Some of the best arms and triceps of all-time. Good ab control.

William Bonac - Mass monster from top to bottom. Starting with the Sergio Oliva victory pose. Good conditioning and size. Great back, quads, and calves. Very complete. Good posing execution. Having fun. It's all there. Fantastic shoulder thickness. Artistic posing routine.

Dexter Jackson - He brought it last night. Slowly moving to the stage. Looks spectacular, close to his 2008 Mr. Olympia shape. Record 16th Olympia. Posing flow. Shaking that back side. Great back. Glute and hamstrings reveal rock solid conditioning. Fighting for a top spot.
Ronny Rockel - Another veteran. Good conditioning last night. Not the most graceful and precise poser. Pose transitioning isn't strong. Doesn't hold his poses long enough. Conditioning off from last night. Vascular but distended belly. Glutes not tight enough.

Big Ramy - 300+ pounds at 5'11". Abs aren't tight enough. Thighs are unbelievable. Some shots his lower body under shadows his upper body. Signature lat spread. Super wide! 747. Trim waste for a big guy. Symmetry. Needs to nail the conditioning. Needs to get dialed in to fight Phil Heath. The crowd loves the size.

Victor Martinez - 42 years old. 5'9", 240s. A real warrior. Glutes and lower back are holding water. Not at his best. Somewhat flat. Very confident and poised. Legs are too flat. A couple of cheeseburgers short. The muscle is there, just a film of water covering the striations.
Dallas McCarver - Very impressive last night. Future star. Olympia debut. Only 24. Monster delts. Taller competitor. Superman theme. Very balanced but calves are incredible. Looks poised despite his age. Needs a little more size to be competitive.

Dennis Wolf - Color looks better tonight. Flaring quads. Classic poser and classic v-taper. Very impressive quad sweep. The posing audio is howling. A big 5'11". Hamstrings and back are no longer a weak point. One of the nice guys of the sport. Conditioning is similar to last night. Definitely a fan favorite.
Johnnie Jackson - Old man dense muscle. World's strongest bodybuilder. Thick, thick muscle. Immense traps. Love songs are flowing tonight. Incredibly thick back and pecs. Legs are peeled and feathered but not as large as his upper body. You could bury a quarter between his lats.

Juan Morel - A little flat last night. Ate 6-7 hamburgers today. Fullness is better today. One of the taller competitors. Legs are improved but still have room to get better. Won the NY Pro. Needs more dryness.

Shawn Rhoden - One of the favorites. Pushing Phil Heath for the top spot. Yet another smooth love song. Wide smile and calm. Size is improved. Abs used to be crisp but not the same today. Robot walking. Flexatron! Tremendously small waist. Ideal bodybuilding structure. Holding water in his abs which could be an issue. Very conditioned.
Phil Heath - 4x Mr. Olympia. Some said Phil was not his best last night. Coming out to Phil Collins. A little flat last night. Looks like the champion. Beautiful physique. Back detail isn't as crisp as normal. Better than last year but conditioning not as good as 2011. Good enough for the 5th Sandow. Better abs than last year. The total package. Best back double bicep pose in bodybuilding. A legend. The crowd loves him.
